Gnosis Chain Prague/Electra Hard Fork Announcement
Gnosis Chain Mainnet will hard fork on April 30, 2025 at 14:03:40 UTC, Slot: 21405696 Epoch: 1337856
We're thrilled to announce the upcoming Pectra hard fork, a transformative upgrade that will significantly enhance the Gnosis Chain network. This comprehensive hard fork introduces crucial improvements to scalability, fee structures, and network functionality.
We strongly encourage all node runners to upgrade their nodes accordingly to ensure a smooth transition and maximize the benefits of the Pectra upgrade.
📌 Important note: Client teams will be published at the latest on April 23rd like Ethereum. All node runners have to upgrade their nodes before April 30, 2025. Please follow our communication channels to stay informed about this.
We will be publishing comprehensive resources in the upcoming weeks, covering client updates and highlighting essential security measures to be implemented by node runners.
We discussed the latest updates on Gnosis Chain, got some updates on the approaching Pectra upgrade from the core team.

Differences with Ethereum mainnet
EIP-7691
The blob gas schedule is kept equal to the Dencun hard-fork.
EIP-4844-pectra
Extends the modified Gnosis EIP-4844 as defined in the dencun spec document. Starting at the fork timestamp, the blob base fee is collected instead of burned.
The actual blob_fee
as calculated via calc_blob_fee
is deducted from the sender balance before transaction execution and credited to the pre-defined address EIP4844_FEE_COLLECTOR
as part of block processing. It is not refunded in case of transaction failure.
What Pectra Means for Users?
Pectra introduces a groundbreaking new transaction type that gives externally owned accounts (EOAs) unprecedented flexibility. This represents an important step toward native account abstraction, enabling:
Transaction batching
Sponsored transactions
Conditional transactions
Delegated security features
Additional user benefits include:
Reduced transaction fees through EIP-7691 and EIP-7623 optimizations
Improved transaction speed and network scalability
Enhanced security infrastructure with smart wallet and passkey support (EIP-7702)
Validator Improvements
For network validators, Pectra delivers substantial operational enhancements:
Higher rewards potential through increased maximum stake per validator (EIP-7251)
Auto-compounding capabilities
Reduced operational costs via optimized signature aggregation (EIP-7549)
Streamlined withdrawal process through the execution layer (EIP-7002)
Developer Improvements
The hardfork opens up exciting new possibilities for developers:
Smart wallet upgrades for EOAs (EIP-7702)
Expanded blob capacity (EIP-7691) for high-performance rollups and dApps
Direct execution layer to consensus communication (EIP-7685)
More efficient BLS operations and zk proofs (EIP-2537)
Technical Specifications: Implemented EIPs
Pectra incorporates several critical Ethereum Improvement Proposals:
Next Steps
We're committed to ensuring a smooth transition to Pectra. In the coming weeks, we'll be releasing:
